I’m sure that I share the gambling bug with many of my fellow Islanders. In fact, according to a recent news story, I share it with about twice as many as I did just a few years ago.
However, to tell you the plain and simple truth, I have a little trouble getting excited anymore about the lottery and the local bingo options. No offense to those of you who swear by such things…but they’re just not the kind of games that really get me going these days.
You see, I’ve discovered online casino games. I can’t remember where I saw them first, probably either Crazy Slots, Rome Casino, Cherry Red Casino, or Slots Oasis. I can’t even remember if it was poker, slots, roulette, blackjack, or any of the dozen other types of online casino games that these websites offer. But I do know that it brought the kind of smile to my face that bingo hadn’t in a very long time. And let’s face it, the lottery tickets have come a long way since those early days, but they’re still not even close to the multimedia action and consistently amazing payouts that you can find on any of those online casino websites.
I was having lunch at a neighborhood cafe with my aunt just the other day, and she asked me how I could feel comfortable with money and personal information going back and forth over “the wires”, I believe was the phrase she used. I smiled gently and told her that she was still thinking of the old days of the internet, where there was little protection from things like pirates and viruses and such. I explained that nowadays we’ve got levels of safety and security that they couldn’t even dream of a few years ago. It’s actually safer to send information — even money — through the internet now than it is to use an ATM in broad daylight. And even if that weren’t true for the internet in general, Crazy Slots, Rome Casino, Cherry Red Casino, or Slots Oasis all have the highest standards of customer privacy and security, and a dedication to personal support and service that I only wish most so-called “real world” companies offered.
“Oh, but you never win anything really,” she objected. I think she was speechless when I told her that I’d paid for lunch with some — but not all — of my winnings. Right then and there she asked me where I’d won all that from, and I honestly couldn’t remember; you see, I’d won a little at Crazy Slots, Rome Casino, Cherry Red Casino, and finally a big jackpot last week from Slots Oasis. I guess that’s my biggest problem — it’s getting difficult to keep track of where it all comes from!
